Glick Acquires Suntree Apartments

The Gene B. Glick Family Housing Foundation has purchased Suntree Apartments in St. Johns, Mich., from Apartment Investment and Management Company (Aimco). The purchase price was not disclosed.

Built in 1981, Suntree includes 121 units and operates under a project-based Section 8 rent subsidy contract. Apartment homes are designated either for families or elderly and disabled residents. The community will be managed by the Gene B. Glick Company.

Located 20 miles north of Lansing, Mich., Suntree offers residents a computer center, library, playground and laundry facilities.  Buildings designed for elderly and disabled residents have elevators and emergency pull-cords in each unit. Residents have enjoyed more than $1 million in recent renovations, including new windows, patio doors, interior doors, roofs, HVAC systems, plumbing fixtures, and asphalt resurfacing. The community is within one mile of Clinton Memorial Hospital, shopping, and the downtown district.

“Quality affordable housing is a vital public resource, and Suntree is the kind of property we seek to preserve and maintain,” said David Barrett, president and CEO of the Gene B. Glick Family Housing Foundation. “We believe Suntree is a great fit for our portfolio.”
