Gene B. Glick Company and United Way Form Strategic Partnership to Focus on Long-term Community Impact

INDIANAPOLIS – Today, the Gene B. Glick Company and United Way of Central Indiana strengthened their longstanding relationship by formalizing a strategic plan designed to drive positive, measurable change in the community. A proud community supporter, Glick was founded in Indianapolis in 1947 and is now one of the largest privately held real estate ownership, development and management firms in the U.S.

For decades, United Way and Glick have promoted community support and philanthropy through workplace giving programs. United Way has frequently honored Glick with “Top Investor” and “Company That Cares” awards, and in 2015, Glick received United Way’s top honor, the “Spirit United” award, for supporting United Way’s community impact work. The new agreement builds on that foundation, allowing greater employee engagement and volunteer opportunities in the areas of education, financial stability, health and basic needs in the region as well as in other communities where Glick and United Way have a presence.

The partnership includes the following commitments:

  • United Way will provide meaningful resources and opportunities to Glick for employees to explore the completion of their eight hours of company-paid volunteer time.
  • United Way and Glick will collaborate on an annual “Day of Caring” experience for all employees.
  • Glick will sustain United Way pledge drives and company matching programs for all employees.

“Glick is proud to be a longtime partner of the United Way of Central Indiana and we look forward to deepening our engagement through this strategic partnership agreement,” said David Barrett, chairman, president and chief executive officer at Glick. “Social responsibility is a core value of ours at Glick. Our collective impact with United Way will benefit not only Hoosiers but our own team members and residents in the communities where they live and work.”

Glick is the first multifamily housing company to sign a strategic partnership agreement with United Way of Central Indiana. To date, Citizens Energy Group, Community Health Network, Duke Energy, Eli Lilly and Company, Enterprise, OneAmerica and St. Vincent have become strategic partners with United Way of Central Indiana.

“As one of our longstanding corporate partners, we’re delighted to unite with Glick and its dedicated, community-minded employees to address the needs and solve the complex issues confronting our communities,” said Ann D. Murtlow, president and CEO of United Way of Central Indiana. “This strategic partnership demonstrates how United Way can connect the passions of Glick employees to the work that needs to be done to help lift families out of poverty, make affordable education possible for children and adults, and care for our most vulnerable neighbors.”
