Glick Employee Spotlight: Anita Wallis
Human Resources/Talent Acquisition Manager, Corporate
This month, we’re happy to shine a light on Anita Wallis, Human Resources and Talent Acquisition Manager. For more than 10 years Anita has served the Glick team, and she says Glick’s workplace culture has kept her here.
“I’ve enjoyed the culture and the open-door policy at Glick. I feel like I could walk into any Vice President’s office and have an open conversation with them. It truly feels like a family here at Glick.”
A big part of Anita’s job is helping to recruit new team members and set them up for success during their journey with Glick. She finds purpose in the knowledge that she is helping individuals navigate their new career adventure.
“The candidates I talk to motivate me every day. So many are either unemployed or underemployed. Listening to their stories and connecting them with a position that could change or improve their lives is very rewarding.”
Twelve years is a long time full of memories! While Anita has made countless ones here at Glick, her favorite memory involves one of our community events.
“One of my favorite memories at Glick is when we held our Day of Caring at the Girl Scout camp. It was so rewarding to see all employees come together and work to make such a difference to a special organization.”
Anita’s decade of service has brought her the opportunity to inspire many. But when asked who inspired her, she beamed about her co-worker, Lisa Rees.
“There have been so many people who have inspired me over the years, but Lisa Rees stands out amongst all of them. Lisa’s leadership style and her HR knowledge has made me a better manager and I’ve hopefully inspired my team because of it. She’s trusted me and given me the autonomy to make my own decisions and mistakes which, in turn, has made me a stronger leader.”
Outside of work, Anita enjoys serving her furry community companions.
“I love dogs and dog training. It’s fascinating to me how dogs connect with humans and the support they can provide. I recently started volunteering at Medical Mutts. This is an organization that adopts younger dogs from shelters and trains them to assist a person with an invisible disability (i.e. epilepsy, PTSD, diabetes, etc.). In the past, I trained my own dog, Quincy, to be a Pet Partner where we visited residents in nursing homes.”
Thank you, Anita, for all you do for Team Glick and for your residents! We are grateful to have you as a valued member of our team.
