Glick Employee Spotlight: Annie Sholty

The Gene B. Glick Company is honored to have such hard-working, dedicated employees and we are proud to recognize those individuals in a monthly employee spotlight!

Q: What is your current title at the Gene B. Glick Company?

A: Service coordinator at Mann Village in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Q: How long have you been with the company?
A: I’ve been with the company a little over a year. I started in August 2017.

Q: How do you describe your role to friends and family?
A: This position is a mix of social work, event planning and customer service. My background is in social work, so I use my education and past experience to connect residents to resources for stability and independence. I help residents maintain their housing and resolve issues that may arise with property management, neighbors or their own households. I also get to plan fun and educational events, as well as clinics to enhance the living experience at Mann Village.

Q: What parts of your job do you like the most?
A: It is a true joy and privilege to provide resources, hope, and optimism to families who fear they are out of options – families who have given up or are unsure of their next move. Working with people who are going through difficult times is definitely the most rewarding – and challenging – part of my job.

Q: Tell us a bit about your customer service award.
A: Winning the 2017 Excellence in Customer Service - Individual Award was a surprise and an honor, especially after being with the company such a short time. From the time I started at Mann Village until the time I received the award, I helped to prevent 76 evictions and saved residents over $10,000 in financial assistance. I also enjoy the creativity and responsibility of posting on our property’s social media sites and keeping residents up to date on programs and events. These are just a few of the ways that I aim to provide excellent customer service within my position.

Q: What has surprised you the most about working at Glick?
A: I have always been surprised by how caring, flexible and employee-focused Glick is, especially as a large company. As a social worker, it is often hard to find a good work-life balance but this company is so supportive of finding that, which is rare in my field.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time?
A: I enjoy traveling, cooking, yoga and spoiling my four-legged children (two dogs and two guinea pigs).

Q: If you could travel anywhere, where would it be?
A: I would love to visit southern Thailand. The beaches, wildlife and culture are incredible!

Q: What is one item on your bucket list?
A: One thing on my bucket list is to visit all 50 states.
