For our last team member spotlight of 2024, we are sharing Jacarla Washington, Property Manager at Edsall House Apartments, who recently celebrated her 10th anniversary as a part of Team Glick! For her, the culture Glick fosters has kept her here for the last decade.

“Glick’s culture demonstrates that ‘our business is family.’ The employees at Glick have positive attitudes, effectively manage and resolve conflicts and are confident in the company and the properties they represent. Glick invests in their employees by making sure they’re satisfied in their work environment, pay, benefits and goals.”

Jacarla prides herself on being a motivated person. She aims to provide an upbeat and supportive space for her team and residents. She finds the Edsall House property and her coworkers make this goal easier, because they encourage her to be the best version of herself every day.

“The environment of the Edsall House and staff keep me motivated to be better and give my all. They are my friends, my colleagues and some of the people I trust the most. When I first came to the Edsall House, I was amazed by the maintenance team. Bruce is an amazing Maintenance Supervisor and under his leadership, he has empowered the team. We cannot always control the circumstances we face, but we can control our attitudes and effort. The staff maintains positive attitudes and we put forth our best efforts daily."

For her, she truly sees how these daily efforts are making a difference in the lives of residents and each other. Over the last decade, these intentional acts have amounted to numerous unforgettable memories. When asked her favorite, she said there were many that came to mind. “I have the memory of pure happiness when I received Manager of the Year. I have also enjoyed witnessing my close colleagues receiving awards. Every event I've attended has been fun and exciting. The Region 7 annual team meetings Marla plans each year are a blast. The conferences and the annual All Employee Dinner in December are always delightful. The memories I share with the residents here are unforgettable. I thank each person involved in my daily work as each person has given me such fond memories. I can't wait to keep making more.”

When Jacarla is not at Glick, she is dedicating time to her daughter and assisting her teams.

“I am engrossed in fundraising, cheering, packing up coolers and making memories during her senior year. Her motivation on and off the field is my motivation to try to be the best mother for her.”
