VTO with Heart – Few Steps From Home Animal Rescue

At the Gene B. Glick Company, we are committed to strengthening the quality of life and giving back to the communities we call home. As part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, we encourage our team members to give back to their communities through volunteerism and empower them to do so through our paid volunteer time off (VTO) program. Our ‘VTO with Heart’ series highlights Glick team members using their VTO to volunteer with organizations close to their hearts.

Dawn Crawford recently volunteered for Few Steps From Home Animal Rescue where she helps process adoption applications, applies for grants, schedules vet appointments, assists with fundraising, transports animals and much more. Dawn has been volunteering for Few Steps From Home Animal Rescue for the past 2 years where she has donated many of her nights and weekends. She enjoys volunteering there because animals are her passion and she loves seeing the positive change she is making in each animal's life.

After her time volunteering with Few Steps From Home Animal Rescue, we caught up with Dawn to learn more about how volunteering is part of her life.

How Does Volunteering Impact Your Life?

"Volunteering makes my heart happy. There are so many homeless and abused animals so it makes me feel good in being part of getting each fur baby to a better life and home."

What Does Glick’s VTO Mean to You?

"Without my VTO, I would not have been able to provide transportation to an abandoned German Shepherd puppy. I drove the puppy 5 hours one way to Grand Rapids, MI to be with her new foster mom. Since transporting, the puppy now has a forever loving home and all the medical care that she needs."
