VTO with Heart – Keep Indianapolis Beautiful

Jun 09, 2026

At the Gene B. Glick Company, we are committed to enhancing quality of life for our neighbors and giving back to the communities we call home. As part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, we encourage team members to give back to their communities through volunteerism and empower them to do so through our paid volunteer time off (VTO) program. Our ‘VTO with Heart’ series highlights Glick team members using their VTO to volunteer with organizations close to their hearts.

Keep Indianapolis Beautiful (KIB) is a local nonprofit with a mission to create beautiful public spaces where people and nature can thrive. Volunteers play a big role in the non-profit’s success. Glick team member Cynthia Bourquein regularly volunteers with KIB and is passionate about giving back to her local community.

Cynthia is an active recycler and has adopted a city block for community litter cleanup. Her ongoing support helps keep public spaces safe for both people and wildlife while easing the strain on nearby waterways and drainage systems. We also learned that Cynthia particularly enjoys volunteering in the winter because there are fewer insects and foliage.

We caught up with Cynthia to hear more about her time volunteering.

How does volunteering impact your life?
