VTO with Heart – Northeast Community Fund
At the Gene B. Glick Company, we are committed to strengthening the quality of life and giving back to the communities we call home. As part of our corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts, we encourage our team members to give back to their communities through volunteerism and empower them to do so through our paid volunteer time off (VTO) program. Our ‘VTO with Heart’ series highlights Glick team members using their VTO to volunteer with organizations close to their hearts.
Lisa Jones recently volunteered at Northeast Community Fund where she helped with their food pantry. Northeast Community Fund is a nonprofit organization with a food pantry and a free clothing room. The organization also has programs that help individuals and families towards a better quality of life, including Micro-Finance, Homeless Support Services, Furniture & Household Program, and Family Investment Program.
Lisa assisted with the food pantry line, making sure families got the correct number of items and helping them pack up their food. She chose to volunteer with this organization because it is a long-standing organization in her community.
"Northeast Community Fund is one of the organizations I have nominated the last two years for a grant through the Glick Community Relief Fund. They have been a great resource for our residents," Lisa said.
After her time volunteering with Northeast Community Fund, we caught up with Lisa to learn more about how volunteering is part of her life.
How Does Volunteering Impact Your Life?
“I’ve volunteered several times over the past 10 years. Giving back to the community I live in helps keep me grounded but it also allows me to interact with others and an opportunity to encourage others.”
What Does Glick’s VTO Mean to You?
“For me, it lets me know that my company cares about the community where I work and the organizations I care about.”
