On the Move: Promotions and New Hires
Glick’s 75th Anniversary has been a monumental year in many aspects, including for our team members! This year 10 team members were promoted or brought onto our leadership team to serve areas ranging from Property Management Operations to Glick’s Executive Leadership Team. We took some time to get to know a little bit more about some of our recently promoted team members:
Angie Nelson
Angie Nelson has recently been promoted to Controller from the Accounting Department Home Office, where she oversees the property management side of accounting. In addition to managing the day-to-day activities of property accounting, she is responsible for ensuring compliance with accounting and U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) regulations. Angie is proud to work for a company that is committed to investing in and empowering their team members, residents and communities. Angie has been with Glick for 12 years and is excited to continue to build the Property Accounting team.

What do you like to do in your free time when you aren't working?
“Spending time with family and friends and being creative with crafting and home interiors.”
What is your dream trip/vacation?
“My dream trip/vacation is to Germany to visit my sister.”
What are your hobbies outside of work?
“My hobbies outside of work are crafting and home interiors. I wanted to be a teacher when I was 4 years old.”
What advice would you give someone who is new to Glick?
“Advice I would give someone who is new to Glick is to stay focused, work hard and think about the big picture.”
Adam Richter
Adam Richter has recently been promoted to Executive Vice President & General Counsel at Glick, where he is responsible for the development and execution of strategic initiatives and leading the company’s legal and risk management departments. Adam joined Glick after several years of large-firm private practice where he represented real estate developers, investors and institutional clients in commercial real estate related issues. He is looking forward to working with CEO David Barrett and CFO/COO Stacey Sunderman to keep Glick a great place to work.

What do you like to do in your free time when you aren't working?
“Travel and anything outdoors.”
What is your dream trip/vacation?
“I would like to visit all the US National Parks in my lifetime.”
What advice would you give someone who is new to Glick?
“I’ve benefited greatly from developing a helpful mindset. Always be thinking “how can I help this situation.”
Ben Grande
In his new role as Director of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Ben Grande works across departments and geographies to carry out Glick’s CSR goals. These goals include helping team members and their families reach their goals, creating transformational opportunities for residents and strengthening the quality of life in the communities we serve. Ben has been with Glick for about 5.5 years now and prior to this role, he was the company’s CSR Manager. He is excited about the momentum that Glick’s CSR efforts have been building over the last several years and in this new role, Ben is looking forward to spending more time across Glick's portfolio to support team members, their philanthropic goals and the quality of life for residents and the broader community.

What do you like to do in your free time when you aren't working?
“When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my wife and three kids, volunteering and being outdoors.”
What are your hobbies outside of work?
“Outside of work I enjoy playing hockey and cycling.”
What is your dream trip/vacation?
“My wife and I went to Turks and Caicos on our honeymoon and it has been our dream to make it back there one day.”
What did you want to be when you were 4 years old?
“When I was 4 years old, I wanted to be a professional hockey player. Now, my Sunday night men's league is the closest that I'll get. “
What advice would you give someone who is new to Glick?
“Get involved in our CSR activities. Joining a volunteer event is a great way to meet your colleagues, give back to the community and better understand who we are as an organization.
Tracee Tyree
As a Controller in the Glick Accounts Receivable Department, Tracee Tyree oversees the day-to-day property accounting activities of Glick and manages resident and housing assistance receipts. Prior to this role, Angie was an Assistant Controller, and she has been with Glick for almost 8 years. She is excited to continue collaboration with Angie Nelson, who is also Controller, to develop and lead Glick’s Accounting Team.

What do you like to do in your free time when you aren't working?
“I like to spend time with my family, going to Zumba classes, going out of town when I can, and spending time with my granddaughter.”
What is your dream trip/vacation?
“My dream trip would be to Hawaii. I've always wanted to go because it seems so beautiful and serene.”
If you had $30,000 to donate to any cause or event, what would it be and why?
“If I had $30,000 to donate, I would donate it to a mental health cause or event because mental health is so important, and many people do not place enough value on or put enough care into their mental health.”
What did you want to be when you were 4 years old?
“When I was 4 years old, I probably just wanted to go outside and play; but my earliest recollection of what I wanted to be when I grew up was to be a teacher.”
What advice would you give someone who is new to Glick?
“My advice to someone who is new to Glick, or new to any company, position, etc.; is to be flexible and adaptable. Change and stress will come at some point and being flexible and having the ability to adapt will make dealing with it so much easier for everyone, especially for you.”
Devyn Smith
As the recently appointed Compliance Director, Devyn Smith helps to mitigate risk by ensuring compliance protocols are in place for our affordable housing portfolio. Prior to taking on this role at Glick, Devyn was the Director of the Real Estate Department with the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority. She is most excited to work on continuous improvement efforts in compliance performance, training needs, and support for site teams.

What do you like to do in your free time when you aren't working?
“I enjoy relaxing vacations with friends and/or family.”
What is your dream trip/vacation?
“I'd like to go to this fancy treehouse like hotel in Tulum, Mexico.”
What is your favorite band/movie/book that I would recommend to anyone, and why?
“Start with Why by Simon Sinek. It's a book about how leaders can inspire everyone to take action to accomplish tasks. It helps people to buy-in to the idea; gives them a sense of ownership which empowers them. This idea has proved to be much more successful in accomplishing company goals than barking orders. It separates leaders from bosses.”
What are your hobbies outside of work?
“I like going to see live performances from local musicians. I also like to go to Chicago Steppin in various cities.”
What is the best professional advice anyone has given you?
“The best professional advice anyone has ever given me was to always be humble. Remain a student as there are always new things to learn to be a better person and leader. Leverage other people's ideas and talents to keep up with the ever-changing pace of business.”
Alex Freeman
In his new role as the Director of Property Management Operations, Alex Freeman is responsible for assisting the Vice President of Operations with improvement of the operational systems, processes and policies in support of the Company’s mission -- specifically, to support, oversee and improve management controls, project and change management, business processes, and organizational planning. Prior to this role, Alec previously held the position of Property Management Operations Manager. He is excited for what’s to come and the new opportunities that have not presented themselves yet.

What do you like to do in your free time when you aren't working?
“I am an avid sports fan who enjoys traveling, golfing, spending time outdoors, spending time with family, and attending his children's sporting events.”
What is your dream trip/vacation?
“My dream vacation would be going on an extended cruise that last 3-4 weeks long.”
What are your hobbies outside of work?
“My hobbies outside of work are assisting my daughters with their sporting events, home improvement projects, and landscaping.”
What is your favorite band/movie/book that I would recommend to anyone, and why?
“My book would be anything written by the author David Baldacci. I enjoy reading his books because they are fast-paced thrillers are fast-paced that are intricately plotted.”
What advice would you give someone who is new to Glick?
“My advice to someone new to Glick is challenge yourself to be great. Don't be afraid to take on new tasks and be willing to put yourself out there and meet new people. As one of my favorite authors John Piper says, "Desire that your life count for something great! Long for your life to have eternal significance. Want this! Don't coast through life without a passion."
Nate Manuel
Nate Manuel has recently been brought onto the Glick team to serve as the Director of Technology, where he is responsible for the day-to-day technological operations at Glick, including managing relationships with various technology vendors and overall technology asset management. Prior to Glick, Nate was a longtime employee of Resultant and Netfidelis, where he worked as a technology consultant and systems administrator. Nate is still in “discovery & documentation mode”, but is looking forward to the projects that will come a little further down the road in his new role.

What do you like to do in your free time when you aren't working?
“I'm a proper football (most Americans call it soccer) junkie - I saw every 5A World Cup game this year and have long been known to be up for 630A Italian games and watch games all day on weekends. Avid supporter of AC Milan (Italy), but follow all the major European leagues, MLS, and international competitions such as the World Cup. My wife and I are both huge animal lovers and have a dog and a cat currently. I also love to game and build Legos.”
What is your dream trip/vacation?
“Dream trip? 2 weeks in Italy with tickets to a Milan game vs. our rivals Inter Milan.”
What is your favorite band/movie/book that I would recommend to anyone, and why?
“We're big music and movie buffs. For music, I can't say enough about Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor (hip hop) or Slipknot's .5 The Gray Chapter (metal). For movies...Training Day.”
What are your hobbies outside of work?
“Hobbies outside of work? Pets, AC Milan, movies, gaming, Legos, and cooking.”
If you had $30,000 to donate to any cause or event, what would it be and why?
“If I had $30,000 to donate to any cause or event, it would probably be to the Indianapolis Zoo or a local animal rescue.”
What did you want to be when you were 4 years old?
“When I was 4 years old, I wanted to be a race car driver. Outgrew that a couple years later when I started playing 'soccer.”
What is the best professional advice anyone has given you?
“The best professional advice I ever received was to listen at all times and be prepared to adapt to anything. I think this would be suitable for new Glick folks as well...listen and be a sponge.”
